About

My name is Dean Glawe, and I’m a photographer based in Fort Benton, Montana.

Photography has been part of my life for many years. The oldest photograph in my collection is one I took with a Kodak Brownie in 1959. My interest deepened through my work as a biologist, where I used photographs to document my research and illustrate scientific papers. Over time, photography became not only a way to record what I saw, but a way to see more deeply.

While living in central Illinois, I discovered the work of photographer Larry Kanfer. His images revealed the extraordinary beauty of seemingly ordinary places: corn and soybean fields, prairies, and woods. They helped me understand that beauty is often already there, waiting for us to notice it.

Today, I photograph whatever catches my eye, from botanicals and landscapes to wildlife and still lifes. My corgi and I wander with my camera in hand, in what I think of as a walking prayer. We set out with no particular agenda beyond the Psalmist’s invitation to rejoice in the day the Lord has made.

It is an honor to share these photographs with you. I hope you’ll find something here that invites you to pause, look more closely, and discover beauty in the world around you.
